All NEW Old Huish Association Website
The OHA has leapt into the 21st Century with the advent of its
very own website.
The idea was conceived by Honorary Secretary Martin Howe,
who is also responsible for the design and maintenance of the site.
"The Internet is the most obvious way of promoting the OHA to a wider
audience," says Martin. "Through the website I hope to keep Old
Huishers informed of events and activities, which might well involve some
of their old school or college friends".
Obviously the site is in its early days, but with the input of Old
Huishers it is hoped to turn the site into an informative and historical
database of people and events both past and present. Should you have
anything to contribute then please e-mail Martin with the information; his
address can be found here.
John Nash (Item added May 2005)
John passed away on Easter Day, 2005. He had been a loyal Association member since leaving the Old Grammar School in the late 1940’s and faithfully served as Hon. Treasurer for 21 years until ill health enforced his retirement two years ago, when he was elected a Vice President.
His funeral, at St Andrew's Church, Rowbarton, Taunton,
was well attended by many members of the OHA. Donations were requested for
the Haematology & Oncology Unit, at Musgrove, and in view of John's
long involvement with the Association, Chairman, David Gill, arranged for
OHA Members to make their donations through the Association, resulting in
£400 being passed to E. White & Sons, Funeral Directors.
Dennis Tabert (Item added May 2005)
It was reported at the 2005 AGM that Dennis Tabert had
passed away.
Dennis had been one of the main Architects of the Huish's
site in South Road. Shortly before his death he sent the Hon. Secretary,
Martin Howe, a detailed document regarding the building of the "new
school". This is a unique record and the Association is delighted to
be have this record, which will soon be available on the website.
